Task Tracking

Tasks connect each focus session to the work you already plan in Tempo, Linear, and Apple Reminders, alongside redesigned navigation and a more capable Split View.

When I first started building Tempo Focus, one of the principles I wanted the product to follow was simple: the app should never force people to change the tools and workflows that already work for them. Tempo should fit naturally into those workflows, reduce friction, and help people focus on the work they have already chosen.

Today, we’re introducing Tasks, one of the most significant updates we have made to Tempo Focus. Tasks let you plan what you want to focus on, organize work between Today and your Backlog, track the time spent on each task, and mark it complete. They are not meant to replace your to-do app, issue tracker, or planner. Instead, they connect your existing plans with the time you set aside to focus.

Tasks launches with Linear and Apple Reminders integrations. You can bring existing issues or reminders into Tempo, select one for your current session, and complete it when the work is finished. Your connected app remains the source of truth, so you can spend less time switching between tools without rebuilding the system you already trust. These integrations are available with Tempo Pro, and we look forward to supporting more tools over time. If there is a tool you would like to connect with Tempo, send your suggestion to hey@martinstoleru.com.

We have also changed how you navigate Tempo. The new sidebar brings Tasks, Insights, History, Labels, App Blocker, and Settings into one central place. It keeps the clock at the heart of the experience while giving Tempo more room to grow.

Without the bottom navigation, the space beneath the clock now shows the Label and Task selected for your session, together with their tracked time. Tapping either opens Split View, which you can expand for more room to browse and change your selection without leaving the timer.

For now, we have removed Tempo Cards from Split View to make room for Tasks. Summaries and insights still matter, and we are exploring more useful ways to bring them back without competing with the work that currently needs your attention.
